H&D loved The Crown Inn when we reviewed it for the Newbury Weekly News's Out&About magazine.
One quote from the review was 'But the minute you walk into this beautiful inn you kind of guess everything is going to be good.'
And so when The Crown opened its new farm shop this weekend, we were nearby and popped in and yes it was very good, too.
It's small but perfectly packaged with the majority of produce from its home county of Hampshire.
There is fresh meat from steaks to smoked chicken breast, pates, terrines, sun-dried tomatoes and fresh tomatoes from the Isle of Wight, chutney, crab apple jelly, and jams.
Local cheeses, eggs, vinegars, locally-produced oil, the best bottled tomato juice (Turner & Hardy says owner Amanda), fresh savoy cabbages, carrots, potatoes and onions.
There was Ramsbury gin and Test Valley too, tonic waters to add to them and a big bowl of lemon and limes. Oh and fresh milk. So you could say all tastes are catered for!
Here's a sneak preview below - but really best get yourself there for lunch (it's delightful) and have a browse.
